In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998, DP-Vids responds to copyright infringement reports submitted to our designated copyright contact.
Please note that under Section 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material or activity is infringing may be subject to liability.
DP-Vids reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that infringe, or appear to infringe, the intellectual property or other rights of third parties.
If you believe that your copyrighted work has been copied or published in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please provide the following information:
- A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple works are covered by a single notification, a representative list of those works.
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity, together with information reasonably sufficient to allow DP-Vids to locate the material.
- Information reasonably sufficient to permit DP-Vids to contact the complaining party, including a name, address, telephone number and, if available, an email address.
- A statement that the complaining party has a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information contained in the notification is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that the complaining party is authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
Proactive Content Protection
In addition to responding to copyright removal requests, DP-Vids provides a proactive content protection system designed to help prevent protected videos from being uploaded again.
Our system uses TMK+PDQF perceptual video fingerprints. A TMK fingerprint is a mathematical representation of the visual characteristics of a video. It is not a visible watermark and does not modify or embed anything into the original video.
When a new video is submitted to DP-Vids, its perceptual fingerprint can be compared against fingerprints contained in our protected-content database. If the submitted video strongly matches protected content, the upload can be automatically rejected before normal video processing begins.
Perceptual fingerprinting may continue to identify copies that have been re-encoded, resized, compressed, cropped or moderately modified.
It may also identify many screen-recorded copies. For example, if somebody plays a protected video on a screen and records it again with another device, the resulting copy can still produce a strong perceptual match because the system compares the visual characteristics of the content rather than the original filename, encoding or file hash.
This makes perceptual fingerprinting substantially harder to bypass than a traditional visible watermark that can simply be cropped, covered or removed.
As with any perceptual matching technology, detection cannot be guaranteed for every heavily modified video or very short excerpt.
Protect Your Videos
Content owners can use our private fingerprinting utility to generate and register TMK fingerprints for their original videos.
DP-Vids Content Protection Tool
Using our tool is the easiest option. Submit one or more original videos and our private system will generate the TMK+PDQF perceptual fingerprints and add them to our protected-content database.
If you prefer not to submit your original videos to our fingerprinting utility, you may also
generate the TMK fingerprint files yourself on your own computer and provide or upload only
the resulting .tmk files.

Once a video's perceptual fingerprint is registered in our protected-content database, future uploads can be automatically compared against it before normal processing.
This can significantly reduce the need for content owners to repeatedly discover and report the same video after it has been reposted.
